After applying, Updates are available 72 hours post filing an Unemployment Insurance claim. Once a claim is filed for Unemployment Insurance, the agency, claimant, and former employer have responsibilities that assist with its progression. More than 325,000 homeowners nationwide with FHA-insured single-family mortgages are at least two payments behind (60+ days delinquent) which includes 6744 Tennessee homeowners that are 90+ days delinquent and have not requested a forbearance and are at risk of losing their homes.

The COVID-19 forbearance – a reduction or pause in their mortgage payment – must be requested by the borrower. Communities of color are disproportionately affected by the pandemic and are also likely to be a large share of homeowners who are behind on their FHA-insured mortgage payments.

HUD’s goal is to have as many struggling homeowners as possible request a mortgage payment forbearance from their servicer, but time is of the essence.

Message for the Borrowers:

• If you are struggling to make your mortgage payment on your FHA-insured mortgage because of COVID-19, help is available.
• However, you must act now. Here are the steps you should take today:
• Contact your mortgage servicer and request a COVID-19 forbearance. A forbearance is a reduction or pause in your mortgage payment.
• Your mortgage servicer is the entity to which you make your mortgage payments. Your mortgage servicer is the only entity that can provide you with a mortgage payment forbearance.
• When working with your servicer, you should:
• State that you are having a financial hardship due to COVID-19.
• Request a COVID-19 Forbearance for your mortgage payments.
• Ask your servicer to confirm the details of your agreement in writing.
• Also evaluate your options.
• Including forbearance, loan modification, and other available payment options.

The Mid-Cumberland Regional Director for TSPN is offering virtual QPRs on Suicide Prevention.
QPR, standing for Question, Persuade and Refer, is a fact-based training on suicide prevention. During this course, they will discuss the statistics of suicide in our state, debunk myths, and learn best practices for discussing suicide with someone in your personal lives or in your professional ones. There is no background in suicide prevention required; this training is beneficial to everyone regardless of profession and past experience. MTSU offers free online mental health resources during COVID-19.

MTSU’s Center for Counseling and Psychological Services, housed in the Miller Education Center, and MTSU Counseling Services, inside the Keathley University Center, are both offering remote mental health resources while ongoing university precautions and the state’s stay-at-home order prohibits on-campus services.
A not-for-profit student training facility affiliated with the Professional Counseling Program in the College of Education, the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services is offering online access to short video sessions on mindfulness, guided imagery and deep breathing, which can be accessed here.

In accordance with the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2021, the U.S. Department of the Treasury through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) has allocated funds to Rutherford County to help residents prevent eviction by assisting them with past due rent and/or utilities incurred due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Rutherford County COVID-19 Rent Relief Program will be used to support renters who are or have been struggling to pay rent, utilities or other home energy costs due to loss of wages/income as a result of the pandemic. Funding will be available for payment of delinquent (past due) expenses. Future rent payments may also be eligible for qualifying households. Learn More Here.
